    Summary:

     This position is an independent contributor able to work within a team on the design, manufacturing, test, and installation of varied, and complex product and system level activities with direct supervision as needed. This position will require the individual to possess a high analytical aptitude with design experience to complete project goals within budgetary and client constraints within the scope of work.  The electrical engineer will work closely with other Design Engineers, Project Engineers, Designers, Manufacturing personnel, Vendors, Clients, Project Managers, and others. Additionally, proficient use of standard office, design, and analysis software to create, improve, verify, and maintain designs in support of the Company’s projects will also be required. You will also be involved in meetings relating to project planning and execution as required.

     

    POSITION DUTIES:

    • Experience with real-time data acquisition and industrial control systems
    • Experience with CCTV monitoring systems for subsea marine applications
    • Experience with motor controls, preferably: AC and DC
    • Experience with of single and 3 phase medium voltage power distribution systems
    • Experience with PLC/SCADA control platforms, preferably: Rockwell Automation A-B/AVEVA
    • Experience with open communication protocols, preferably: MODBUS RTU and MODBUS TCP/IP
    • Experience with programming languages, preferably at least one of:  python, C++, Ladder
    • Knowledge of networking focused on cybersecurity
    • Knowledge of real-time Operating Systems, preferably:  Windows NT
    • Develop specifications and test requirements that drive product design.
    • Create schematics, layouts, and choose components and products that meet project requirements.
    • Analyze design reliability, serviceability and manufacturability.
    • Create bills of materials, drawings, layouts, and models to support new designs.
    • Provide guidance for designers, and other engineers, on design tasks as needed. Function as lead on tasks of moderate complexity.
    • Collaborate with product group mechanical and electrical engineers on detailed design work, and work with project and business development groups on product research, definition and development.
    • Provide support to other departments such as Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Customer Service.
    • Recommend improvements to engineering policies and establish new procedures as needed.
    • Drive continuous improvement to electrical scope best practices by evaluating industry tools and techniques, then collaborating with the electrical engineering team to discuss implementation.
    • Maintain an awareness of how assigned tasks impact schedule, scope, budget, and quality at every stage of development from concept to end of life.
    • Perform engineering duties at customer sites, or offshore when required.
    • Other duties, as assigned.

     

     Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or other related engineering discipline with at least 3 years of engineering experience are required.
    • A strong understanding of electronics and their relationship to software, firmware, and mechanical interfaces and operation in a number of electrical specialties.
    • A track record of success in learning, leveraging, and integrating proven technologies into new products to solve challenging problems.
    • Hands-on electro-mechanical repair or assembly experience.
    • Proven teamwork, collaboration, and leadership skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • A firm knowledge of electrical product safety.
    • Experience with CAD in generating solid models, drawings, and schematics is required.
