    The Purchasing Agent assists the Procurement Manager in all procurement duties. The employee must have an understanding of the company’s needs, dealing with different suppliers and vendors while ensuring purchased items adhere to company policies and engineering specifications.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assists procurement manager in the following duties:
      • Develop procurement plans for specific projects along with project management
      • Strong knowledge and understanding of machined components and raw materials
      • Ability to read and understand machine and fabrication drawings
      • Evaluate vendor quotes and services to determine if they are compatible with company/project objectives (cost, quality, safety, delivery, etc.)
      • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain optimal cost and commercial terms
      • Monitor supplier costs, delivery schedules, quality and conformance to specifications
      • Survey marketplace for alternate sources of supply and benchmarks for ongoing acquired goods/services
      • Effectively build and maintain strong business relationships with suppliers
      • Provide procurement support during all relevant phases of complex projects by partnering with project teams
      • Negotiate commercial terms and contracts for procured goods and services in partnership with business and legal organizations
      • Management of supplier delivery commitments and ensure adherence to change management guidelines
      • Prepare and review purchase orders
      • Secondary approval of incoming invoices and submit for processing
      • Measure and follow up deliveries in accordance with agreed terms and conditions
      • Sourcing, evaluation and implementation of new suppliers
      • Maintain forecast delivery date, lead time, standard price, supplier etc.
      • Provide purchasing data to project controls lead for job tracking and cost control
      • Be familiar with Company HSE policies and procedures
      • Share knowledge & best practice across the company
      • All other duties as assigned

     

    Qualifications:

    • BS/BA degree and/ or at least 5 years of previous experience related to position.
    • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines with changing priorities
    • Strong negotiating skills
    • Data administration with 100% accuracy
    • Excellent quantitative, organizational and analytical skills
    • Proficient computer skills with knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Dynamics NAV (or equivalent ERP system)
    • Strong written and oral communications skills
